Will You Be a Phoenix or a Phootnote?

Last week I shared a conversation with a friend who indicated that, with all the goings-on in the world (gas prices, unrest in the middle-east, tragedy in Japan) he was planning to ‘hunker in the bunker’ for a while.

Basically, he’s hitting the ‘pause’ button and taking a nap.

In my opinion, he’s got it all backwards. I like my friend, but I do not agree that this is the best way to go.

How are diamonds formed? Though intense heat and high pressure, over time. How are great breakthroughs created? Same thing. How about top-quality leaders? Same process.

The speed and high pressure of the modern world is a heat-forge the likes of which we’ve never seen. We have a choice: we can let our tails catch fire, causing to spring from the ashes, or we can sit there and burn up, becoming just a memory of missed opportunity.

So, I ask YOU…will you choose to redouble your efforts and imagination, taking a path to rise up and create greatness?

Or will you curl up in a ball and collapse into a gray mist of memory?
The choice is yours.  It’s getting hotter every day.  How will YOU react to the pressure?

  1. This is a diamond of a post. Thank you for the reminders to focus on the positive. It’s the drive that causes change. Nobody said it wouldn’t hurt a little though! Like Billy Joel said, ‘PRESSURE’!
