Just so you know, there WILL be some…there always are.
Some are big, some are small.
What we learn from them, especially about ourselves (and our capabilities), can be huge.
Yesterday, as I was delivering a very important speech for one of my favorite clients, a pretty big one showed up.
In the middle of my presentation, the lights went out.
The projector went out.
My videographer, hired to capture the event for a new marketing piece, scrambled to adjust his cameras to at least see ‘something’ in the dark.

When you’re a speaker at the front of a conference room delivering a multimedia presentation, darkness is a big obstacle.
As a rush of voices began to swirl, I knew the day could be over if people began to converse and leave the room.
I had to make a decision.
Screw you, obstacle.
Within a minute, the power came back on.
I’d been speaking for about 55 seconds of that minute, beginning with “I did that with my mind”.
What we do with them is up to us.
There are people in this world who overcome what many would see as insurmountable odds, every day.
Mine was nothing, although there are speakers who might freak out over it and start yelling because ‘they’ were compromised.
Heck, I’m going to use the footage and resulting laughter in my marketing.
We need to roll with them, around them, over them or through them…as long as we keep rolling.
